Bunny Bums
Happy Sunday folks!
While searching for some fun spring projects I came across the Chicken Coop Club over on the Gram. These are professional artists and art teachers that share their fun tutorials and adventures in art. Me, needing a little fun and something to add a bit of color to my life found myself dabbling in painting Bunny Bums.

Art
This is kind of like childs play. You get to create something out of nothing. As it engages our minds, hearts and bodies. We get to see ourselves in art. Engaging in this enjoyable project provides an opportunity to take risks and make errors without consequence – you almost couldn’t make a mistake. The best part? You can do this project with your littles and have so much fun creating bunny bums. I think kids would get a giggle out of just the topic.

These ladies teach a fun, easy crash course on painting bunnies— bunny bums, complete with a little shadow and highlight magic. And the best part? You can paint two at the same time! Twice the bunnies, twice the joy, and who knows—maybe a whole bunch by the time you’re done!

I have enjoyed their brief tutorial so much that I am ready to sign up for art classes! Yes, and I can hardly wait! Maybe another best part of this project is, its inexpensive and oh, did I say that it’s fun?
Abstract Impressionism???
Probably not! Reminded me a little. This is what I found that might be remotely related:
“Geometric abstraction is a type of art that is characterized by the use of geometric shapes such as squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles. The shapes are often arranged in a precise and structured composition, and the use of color and line is minimal.”
While trying to understand and look for some explanation for this type of art, the different types of abstract art – made my head hurt. Just globing paint and rubbing out an object or creation was enough.

Let’s Paint Some Bunny Backsides
These took just a few minutes to complete. I used a brush, but what fun would it be to paint with your fingers? This was such a fun painting tutorial. I learned about shading, highlights, and dimension.
What you’ll need:
- Paints – I used acrylic paint.
- Paint brush
- Cup of water to thin the acrylic paints. (Just a very small amount)
- Paper (I cut my paper sizes into 5″x 7″s) (I used watercolor paper that I purchased from the Dollar Tree)
- paper bag gift bags (upcycled)
- Pom-poms for a tail
Step 1. Choose your paint colors.
Step 2. Paint a circle and fill it in with paint. Make sure the paint is somewhat thick, Use generously.
Step 3. Paint a lump on top
Step 4. Paint a letter V on top of the lump.
Step 5. Dab a second color of paint on the left side of the bunny
Step 6. Using another piece of blank paper lay on top of the bunny and blot/rub the spot painted just a bit. This is going to do something really fun to the object.
Step 7. I left out the details so that you can follow over at the Chicken Coop Club.

Its Art!

Just amazing how much cuteness you can get in a bunny tail.

Bunny Bums on Gift Bags
I added a little white pom-pom for the tail.

Prepping for Easter?
Creativity and entertainment are important because it’s not just a way of making things or even a way of thinking. Here you can create an Easter activity with kiddos or just yourself and turn them into art for a gallery wall, child’s room, seasonal decor, or an Easter greeting card to family and friends. I’m pretty sure I will be making gift bags for my great-niece and nephew for their Easter surprise.
