Mad About Stripes
I’m a little mad about stripes. Stripes are used to help create focus, drive navigation and help users find and focus on calls to action. I was called to action when I created a striped moment in a lamp shade in a red and white cotton fabric. A wild-hair moment took me to the fabric store for fabric to cover a common white lampshade that I wasn’t so much in love with. I found the red and white striped fabric in the Christmas section of the fabric store. Touches of red is a color that just has my heart around the home.
Two Design Elements I Find Popular
Two design elements that I find popular this season, bold colors and stripes. Bold stripes can help set the tone with a classic look and feel. When it comes to classic visions of stripes in design, color is also an important factor. Red or blue stripes for a traditional or old-school feel. stripes can be small design divots or accents as well. Stripes are such a great play on design and to create a focal point – I might be mad about stripes.
Boost Your Mood and Productivity
When it comes to boosting your mood and productivity, color psychology is key. The colors you surround yourself with have a huge impact on how you feel and work. A striking, bold, and captivating hue, red is perhaps the most dominant of colors. The color red symbolizes passion and energy. I knew I wanted a bold color, something fun. Lamps create a warm, cozy ambiance – a mood lighting effect so why not pair a cozy lamp with a ruffly red and white lampshade. Choose colors and lighting that make you feel good.
Play on Pattern
The blue and white dishes with the red and white stripes create a fun play on pattern. Mad about stripes when they add instant energy to a room bringing a sense of drama to a space.
Mid-sized stripes can create a distinct effect. Vertical stripes are universally flattering, while horizontal stripes can offer a completely different look and feel. Blue and white horizontal stripes tend to evoke a nautical vibe, which wasn’t my intention. Therefore, I chose red and white vertical stripes to add a touch of fun and whimsy.
Stripes are a fun addition that can add visual interest and depth to design projects in a variety of ways. Stripes are an excellent design choice. Consider a red and white lampshade as a unique way to incorporate them into your decor.
DIY
Here’s a DIY approach to creating a lampshade. The fabric has been measured, cut, and the edges folded and pinned in preparation for sewing. One edge of the fabric has been folded over, and hemming tape has been applied to create a neat hem on one side.
I turned the fabric and pinned it for sewing and found it important to have the stripes aligned.
Bow Fashion
Bows have become an inescapable trend over the past few months, and they’ve now found their way into home decor. While bows might conjure images of an eight-year-old girl’s bedroom, there are chic and inventive methods to integrate them into your space. For instance, adding a touch of elegance to a ruffled-style lampshade with a bow crafted from matching fabric can enhance its charm.
You spend so much of your life indoors; you owe it to yourself to make those surroundings as inspiring and rejuvenating as possible. Put these interior design mood boosters into practice and you’ll be feeling happier and getting more done in no time.
I hope this helps inspire you if you’re feeling stuck and needed just something a bit out of the box when it comes to your next project.
