A Summer Bedroom-Western Style
A western/country bedroom should feel airy with lots of open space.
Whether a farmhouse bedroom: western, rural, rustic, or elegant (Call it what we will.) should always be characterized by simplicity, whether the room is large or small. Naturally the most important piece in the room is the bed.
If Opposites Could Attract…
The soft blues, pinks, pale flax, and shades of white of the bedding paired with antique brown finish on this arched Alderwood headboard combines Western opulence with Spanish flair.
A quintessential western bedroom is dominated by a heavy wooden bed. Maybe a bit on the Spanish style with a tooled leather headboard. It’s big. It’s a king. With all the elements of a Western/Spanish style; with large turned four posts, carved wood (all hand carved of course) and upholstered leather panel, again with hand tooling.
Summer Styling in the Bedding -A Plush Landing
The paisley duvet cover adds an elegant layer to the bed. Made of soft cotton, it’s downy, fluffy, and also cool to the touch, making it an ideal summer style to layer up on warmer nights. Brimming with beautiful blues. Blues that lay a soothing foundation for summer bedding. Accompanying Belgian linen shams in the color of flax and mineral blue. A little on the pattern play. A mix and match of the blue/green printed paisley layered with the soft garden floral of pinks, blues and greens. The patterns mix and match with ease. Layers of patterns and colors in the room. Add a touch of romance with these colors and whimsey in the flax-colored linen shams trimmed in a fun white accent, all to create a cozy, modern farmhouse aesthetic. You can see where I purchased those here.
Layers of Comfort
Pile on the comfort with a white quilt at the foot, a cozy throw, and an angora goat hair pillow.
Add Western Ambiance to Your Bedroom with Western Accents
A wrought iron bench, a southwestern blanket, an out west coffee table book, and a tooled leather train case add a few western touches.
Hanging opposite the bed is a long horn cow skull. This cow when alive, literally helped start a cow herd. She was part of a foundation of four that grew into a herd of couple of hundred. When she passed, there was no doubt she would one day take her place hanging on my walls. I crowned her head with the perfect collection of flowers and an unfinished family mecate.
