A Collection of Beautiful Vintage Floral Dishes

Some days, I find myself gazing at my collection of beautiful vintage floral dishes, plates, and teacups with saucers. I have imagined gathering them all in one place to admire and reflect on who gave them to me, or where and when I found them. So that’s what I did! I had a little time on my hands, so, I combed through shelves and cupboards to create a display, and I arranged them on the table just to take in the view.

Vintage Floral Dishes
Today I’m sharing my thoughts on floral china. Spoiler alert—If loving beautiful vintage floral dishes is wrong – I’ll probably never be right because it’s just my thing.
I thought it would be pretty neat to gather all my beautiful vintage floral dishes in one place.

I’m a bit obsessed with beautiful vintage floral dishes. Anyone else part of the vintage dish collecting club? The one where you can’t pass a pretty vintage plate without picking it up, debating whether to take it home, just to set it down, trying to walk away, and then turning around to grab it before someone else does? Yea, that’s probably me.

A Slight Addiction
This is what I call a slight addiction and I’m going to blame it on mother and my sisters. They are the culprits for this collecting addiction. It started many years ago. You see those pretty little white plates with the pink flowers and greenery at the top of this picture. Those were purchased at a flea market and were the dessert plates at my bridal shower – some 36 years ago. Those cute little floral beauties stacked on the platter??? Those belonged to my grandmother. There is a story for many of these beautiful vintage floral dishes.

A stack of sweet plates for a bridal shower. My mother and I picked these up especially for the bridal dessert.

Special Pieces
I also have special pieces and sets. Pieces that were my mothers or grandmothers. I have special sets that have been passed down through my aunts and eventually to me. A little worn or chipped or crazed- I love them and am reminded of those special people each time I bring them out or see them. So those are always keepers.

Vintage Floral Plates
I find it hard to resist plates adorned with floral designs. Those dainty, delicate flowers and elegant scrolls captivate me every single time. I find those vintage floral beauties, and I just can’t resist bringing them home with me. But honestly— can you blame me? Vintage floral dishes are most often sweet and dainty.

Reasons For Collecting Beautiful Vintage Floral Dishes
- Family heirloom with special meaning.
- Those lovely vintage pieces add a warm touch of nostalgia and charm to your space.
- Vintage floral patterns come in a variety of designs and colors, allowing you to switch up your display and dishes whenever the mood strikes.
- They’re inexpensive at tag sales and thrift shops, so collecting them feels like spending pocket change. Prices can range from just a few cents to hundreds of dollars, depending on the patterns or quantity. Still, we often find very affordable pieces at thrift stores.
- A full set is not required to set a table to enjoy. A mix and mingle are some of my favorite things to do.
- Big old platters layered under a stack of dishes or tucked behind a stack of dishes is just a sweet kiss to the collection.
- The unique beauty of those beautiful vintage floral dishes is just plain perfection!
Teacups & Saucers
Teacups and saucers have always been some of my favorite things to collect. When I was a little girl, I had my own teacup and saucer set complete with a teapot that was actual china. I would spend hours setting the table with them and pretending to have a “spot” of tea with some friends. The tea set was white with little pink rose buds on them. As a matter of fact, I had several tea sets and a set that was actually metal. None that I have today. I guess I played with them so hard that many were lost or broken.

I love a dainty teacup and delicate saucer, but I don’t usually bring them all home. They’re so charming that I do have a few stacks here and there of ones whose shape or style I adore—but they really have to speak to me before I take them home.

Platters
I love platters for several reasons. Number one- platters are beautiful on the table- mixed and mingled or on repeat. Two- they are also beautiful on the wall as decor- I love a good plate wall. Three- they look great in plate racks on display in cabinets and hutches- so classic and beautiful. Timeless if you take care of them!

If The Price is Right
Every now and then I have found a stack of 6 or 8 vintage dinner plates- Oh, I do get excited! If the price is right, they are going home with me! You can’t go wrong with antique porcelain plates, either with a gilded rim or sporting delicately faded floral motifs which can set an elegant tone for the meal ahead.

My Curated Collection of Beautiful Vintage Floral Dishes
From cozy kitchen table breakfasts to lavish soirées, charming vintage floral dishes can add a touch of beauty to any home. Whether it’s a simple sandwich or an afternoon cup of tea, everyday moments feel more special when enjoyed on a lovely porcelain plate or with a delicate teacup and saucer. My curated collection mainly revolves around bits and pieces gathered along the way, but those little stacks of floral plates have graced a few meals and desserts helping me make a lifetime of memories.

Yet our collections of porcelain, gifted for special occasions like weddings and anniversaries, often spend much of their lives stowed away in cupboards — only coming out to shine at family events or during the holiday season or are just peered at on china hutch shelves.

Why not let your cherished, heirloom porcelain shine in everyday life? China and porcelain in all shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns look stunning when displayed together in a cabinet, and there are endless ways to decorate with them. It’s décor that’s not only beautiful but also practical.

Elevate your dining experiences with floral plates that are a perfect accompaniment to a meal in the home or garden. Antique dishes and serving plates will have your table setting looking sophisticated and refined while blending into the natural surroundings.
My point is… if you have one or a hundred, large or small collection of beautiful vintage floral dishes don’t just leave them in a cabinet or displayed on china hutch shelves use them and enjoy them. You won’t regret the memories they create or the nostalgia they bring back.
