Not Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Are you familiar with the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Probably not! It’s a sixty-five-year-old movie starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. The setting of the movie is eating a pastry and drinking coffee in front of an empty Fifth Avenue storefront at dawn which instantly sets a romantic, melancholic tone in Manhattan, New York. Somewhere I’ve never been but imagine it might be a pretty setting and table.

Today’s tablescape may not be a Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but I can pretend…right? The star of the movie Audrey Hepburn, aka Holly Golightly is searching for safety behind a fragile identity and glamorous facade. Holly loves Tiffany’s because of how the building makes her feel that “nothing bad could happen to you there.” Maybe that’s what I created in this sweet tablescape that looks fancier than it is.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is such a catchy little title, I thought it was a catchy little phrase, and I imagined it looking a little like this…
Breakfast at Tammy’s
This is Not Breakfast at Tiffany’s its breakfast at Tammy”s.

Today it is all about creating a little spot to enjoy a cup & feel like you are in a little cafe in Paris – or at a small bistro table in front of an empty Fifth Avenue storefront in Manhattan, New York.
Setting up a little table and chairs for two is always a fun thing to do.

It doesn’t take much to create a beautiful tablescape. Everything from this tablescape, I pulled from my own collection.
On the Table

Set it with silver. I added some personality with a couple of pieces from my silver collection, a small revere bowl for my candle and another silver bowl for the water.

I used every-day white Mikasa plates and favorite yard sale silver, a pair of thrifted cream Franciscan cups and saucers, and less than simple water glasses. All and most are mismatched yet everything feels cohesive and effortless.

The key take-away for the tabletop is to mix and match. It doesn’t all have to ‘go’ or be a set to work. Try bringing in some of your favorite pieces- like your grandmother’s plates or that collected flatware to give your table a bit of personality.
Linens
I used favorite kitchen towels for napkins. They are simple but beautiful and continue to add the effortless look to a simple style that is often used in Paris.

The Flowers
I added a touch of romance with $8 Roses! Soft cream roses with hints of pink. Absolutely a favorite! Such a pretty bouquet in a simple container. One candle to make it feel like fine dining and sophisticated.

A refined elegant look that even a cowboy/welder Jack of all trades can enjoy.

It’s Delicious! Not Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Yep, I added a few more candles to turn-up the romantic vibe.

Honestly, you don’t need much for a beautiful tablescape. I hope you enjoyed my breakfast table today. Well, I’m off to finish my movie.
