Cheers to New Beginnings
Happy New Year!
We are day four into the new year and you are or have already made New Year’s resolutions. The new year always has us reflecting on the past year and looking ahead to a new one. It is a time where we set goals and dreams and make a plan to work towards them.
Are you setting goals for 2023? Have you made your New Year resolution(s)?
To tell you the truth, I haven’t set goals, made a new year resolution or even chosen a word for 2023.
I am working on it.
Slowly.
Maybe it’s just to continue slow living and just to do that and be more intentional.
Here are some ways to maybe help you crush your goals and resolutions. I’m certainly no authority but have come across some pretty good tips that I thought to share.
Goal Setting
If you are setting goals… write them down.
Don’t stop there. Create THE PLAN. Writing down the goal, intention or word is only the first step… But it’s absolutely worthless if you don’t devise a plan around what you’re going to do in order to reach the result. The Plan is the HOW piece of your goal.
Are you with me?
The Plan
Creating the goal, resolution, word is easy. The plan is, how do you get there? This maybe easy as well. The hardest part is sticking to the plan…walking the plan day after day.
- Make a list of everything you need to accomplish your set goal.
- Prioritize said list.
- Schedule out those things.
- Keep the prioritized list where you can see it daily. Maybe, once you’ve accomplished steps, cross them off. Kind of like a bucket list.
- Be stubborn about your goals and flexible about your methods. Keep notes on your methods.
- Do it all for you. When you have reached your goal, REWARD YOURSELF.
- Maybe slow living is best for you over hustling. Nonetheless keeping track of your goals and accomplishments will help get you through to your goals.
The Vision
After the plan, take it another step.
Create the vision with encouraging words, pictures, and phrases of your goals and the whys. Keep it where you can see it every day. The more we look at our visions, goals the more motivated we are. More motivation means you will work harder for the goal. Sometimes the harder we work, means the more opportunities that may fall into our lap.
The vision board is an integral part of the goal setting process. Don’t skip it.
“Nobody is successful in any venture just by wishing they would be. Successful people make a plan and talk to themselves about the plan constantly.”

“DO. THE. DAMN. THING.”
I’m not sure if I wrote this for you, those of you that will read this, or for me. Probably – mostly for myself. As I go into the New Year, I’m working on not being overwhelmed or comparing myself to others. I want to be successful and truly thrive at what makes me happy. I want to appreciate ‘the moment,’ learn to live more for the small things, and not overlook simple pleasures. Sometimes the small simple pleasures and milestones end up being the biggest things of all.
