Spring Mood Board
Happy Spring! It’s outdoor season! I’m trying hard to be here for all the changes that are happening over here. With so many plans and inspirations swirling in my head and saved on my Pinterest account, I finally decided to put them together into a Spring mood board. For some time, I have been wanting to do a bit of a home and office refresh and haven’t quite known where to start.

Might be a bit odd for most but my spring color pallet has become very neutral. This whole color thing has been an Achilles heel for me and my fickle heart. My home is painted Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams. I still love this color with its warm beige undertones. This is my jumping off point for a Spring challenge along with my current brown furnishings. I’ve shopped, purchased, and plundered department stores, thrift stores, antique stores, and you name it. Just trying to nail down my color choices and things that I love in my home. It had begun to make me crazy. However, I gathered a few inspirational pics and design elements and created a mood board collage.
Why Create a Mood Board?
A mood board is a visual presentation, a ‘collage’, that consists of images of furniture, lighting etc., plus text to demonstrate a room design essential in the design process.

This is my very neutral spring mood board ready for Easter with the brown hare/jackrabbit. Ha, Ha! He’s quite comfortable in this setting and high desert environment. Don’t you think? I’ve added the soft touches of white for more of a spring like feel. I can always add flowers for additional color and spring touches.

Mood boards are helpful if you are:
- building a new home
- renovating a kitchen or bathroom
- buying new furniture for a living room
- refreshing a bedroom
- designing an outdoor patio
- selecting new flooring for your home
- picking paint colors for a home
- choosing new shingles to coordinate with your home’s exterior
- painting the exterior of your home
Mood Board Collage
My inspiration, my mood board collage. I’ve put this together from color choices and a few collections that I have in my home. This is a neutral pallet of grays, browns, whites, and black with some very rustic touches. With slight touch of red here and there. I think any room needs a pop of color, a bit of a surprise.

These mood board design elements are sprinkled throughout my main living area and home office.

Design elements demonstrate the style, feeling that I have created for my home that include the colors, fabrics and materials used in a room design.

A Final Mood
The mood board or collage is where you can play around and fine-tune everything until you capture the perfect vibe. Some of my mood boards might look a little repetitive, but if you look closely, you’ll notice subtle differences I’ve added for texture and visual interest.
Bridle Rack
After years of gathering western cowboy gear and wanting to display items we don’t use, I finally found the perfect bridle hangers to mount on the best old, weathered board.

Sedona Accent Stool
The Sedona accent stool from Pottery Barn is the real deal! The frame is made of iron with an Antique Brown finish. The seat is upholstered in natural cowhide with a thick foam cushion for true comfort, and coming in handy for the closet room, functioning quite well in front of the woodstove.

Seeking a Few Changes
I want my home decor style to combine rustic charm with modern touches, inspired by cowboy culture, nature, and a hint of the American frontier. By adding earthy tones, weathered wood, leather accents, woven textiles, and authentic cowhide rugs are how I have created a cozy neutral space. This is how I do home.
