Collecting for a Fall Dining
Yes, I’ve been collecting for a fall dining! This is a Rustic and Refound style! I always look forward to doing special tablescapes, especially for fall. They are always so different. Some are simple, others eclectic, and some are crafted with a mix of antique, new, and a few foraged items, much like this one. A cozy, warm, and spicy autumn feeling is always a good idea.
Adding Texture + Cozy
This tablescape and dining space comes with a great deal of texture! I firmly believe that incorporating different textures into a space is essential to create a cozy atmosphere. Let’s look at the number of textured items that are included in this space: glass – crystal goblets + dinnerware + metal – brass and silver candle sticks + black candles + gathered & found gourd, pumpkin, & pheasant feathers + wood with the table and chairs + velvet in the chairs and ribbon on the candlesticks + leather & cowhide captain’s chairs + burlap table runner + ceramic/pottery black vases + mercury glass candleholders … all this = I could keep going, but I think you get the picture. What I am saying is think texture when you might decorate your space, even a tablescape. I think it all adds to the interest and cozy.
Cherished Hand-me-Down
This table is a vintage hand-me-down. It first belonged to my sister, then her daughter, who stained it a very dark shade, before it came to me. I had it restored for my first home, where it adorned the kitchen nook. Now, it’s a cherished item in my dining area. It’s enjoyable to style, and although it’s rarely used for dining unless we have guests, it remains a styled centerpiece, while we typically dine at the large kitchen island.
Collected and Gathered
All the items on the table for the most part, have been collected from antique stores, found foraging, and or purchased from local department stores. The candlesticks are from a local antique shop and the candles are a Marshall’s score. The plates are from Marshall’s, the teacups are thrift store finds, the silver flatware are yard sale finds, & the goblets were part of a wedding present some thirty-four years ago. Yes, I’ve been known to hang on to things that I love for a little while. I believe that all the elements come together to form a cohesive and uncomplicated table setting. I have been collecting for a fall dining!
A favorite collected little white teacup!
Brown Transferware
I have an eclectic mix of brown transferware pattern. The dinner plates are Royal Stafford Woodland Pheasant Dinnerware. The brown and white platter is a purchase from an antique store. These are items I have come to love and collect.
Pheasant Feathers and Foraging
In your travels when you come across a rare couple of pheasant feathers you surely pick them up and bring them home. Obviously, you forage some interesting weeds to accompany them put in a small vessel.
Add a Little Seasonal Flair + Candles
Moody black candles, pumpkins and a gourd, Pheasant plates and brown transferware these are easy ways to add that all important mood factor while collecting for a fall dining. Candles go without saying really. There is nothing quite like the soft flicker and glow from candles. Most often with candles, my tip is to vary their heights for layers of ambiance and also bring in more than you think you need for extra dazzle.
In my opinion, candles with dripping wax are the most charming, and I adore the appearance of the long drips as the wax cascades down. The candles are set in collected brass candlesticks from a local antique store tied up with golden velvet ribbon.
Collecting for a Fall Dining – For Two
Maybe you don’t have the budget to keep up with the seasonal decor, and I don’t blame you. There are simple and small ways you can still achieve the look. Always shop your home first! The autumn months are some of the best times to walk outside. The leaves change their colors to brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows. It’s the perfect opportunity to seize the moment and collect a handful of leaves to add to a wreath.
Pumpkins
Don’t Forget the Pumpkins! Pumpkins are also popular symbols for the harvest season. They will add that traditional touch to your autumnal décor and are easy to leave around your home or on your porch for that seasonal spirit. You can decorate your pumpkins in countless ways, from playful to chic. Choose a warm orange or white for a modern spin on an old tradition.
Sorry for the overload of photos, but I hope they inspire you in some way.
