Bronc Rider Christmas Ornament
Every year I turn to family traditions of the past and start my holiday season with the making of ornaments. I started making these bronc rider Christmas ornaments some time ago. Being true to my western heritage I created these paper bronc rider ornaments.

I love a simple yet stunning way to add a personal touch to my holiday decor. Growing up on a ranch many miles from town, my mom and I always spent a few days before Christmas making ornaments. Even though my mom is no longer with me, I haven’t let the tradition go. The nostalgia, thinking about my mom makes Christmas more meaningful.

Paint and Texture
I found this bronc rider pattern out on Pinterest and decided to print a few from card stock. Using an Exacto knife I carefully cut around the silhouette. From here I used texture spray paint in the color brown. Not exactly satisfied with this effect -once this was dry, I mixed up some acrylic paints in the shades of, browns, oranges, and metallics to look like rust. To add a little crust, baking soda became my friend. All of this was added in a couple of coats to give the patina of rusty metal to create a bronc rider Christmas ornament.

Once all the paint was dry, I punched a hole and added string to hang.

If you know me, you might know that I enjoy handmade items and making things for my home. I enjoy embracing a handmade holiday. I like creating my own decor rather than running to the store to buy something new. It might be my favorite thing. I highly recommend it!
