Thrifting Treasures – Vintage Dishes & More
Vintage Dishes & More
Are you ready for more sunshine and all things spring? I sure am! This week’s weather has been perfect to curl up and get cozy in a comfy chair, by a cozy fire, with a hot cup of tea, a little something to nibble on, with good company or just a good read. While just staying at home for all things cozy, I also took a day and headed out to do a little thrifting for treasures, vintage dishes and more. I want to share with you the treasures – vintage dishes and more from while I was out and about.
Vintage Dishes – Thrifting Treasures & More
One of my favorite things to look for at thrift stores is any tableware. My biggest weakness is pretty vintage dishes, glasses and serving pieces. In addition, candlesticks, silverware, containers for centerpieces, and silver is also a favorite. So basically, anything to do with a table. Every now and then I have come across, new pieces of napkins and linens. If they are they right color, I won’t hesitate.
These are among the newest and most recent finds.
Why I Love Thrifting – A Little of What Motivates Me
While growing up on a remote ranch in an endless sagebrush sea, the love of old things becomes quite natural. You see, the closest department store was at least a 2.5-hour drive. Also, I come from a family where family heirlooms were great treasures and you counted them among prized possessions. Being endlessly curious and nostalgic by nature are a few ways to describe myself. Always in awe of the natural world, I spent countless hours in my young life playing, exploring & creating around the ranch, and in the desert. Many carefree afternoons were spent collecting old bottles from a dump, artifacts and other ‘treasures.’ So, you see my love for old, vintage, and antique is just a part of me – Thrifting Treasures – Vintage Dishes & More.
What I Love About Thrifting
While I have a great enthusiasm for old things, I truly feel that vintage is for everyone. Vintage and antique each come with its own story and character. I think this new generation of collectors make them better, if you will, because we see them with a fresh eye and often use them in different ways other than their intended purpose. Hence that “re-found” style, making it the perfect conversation piece. Useful old things become modern sculptural in form and now serve new functions. Using vintage in your decor is just plain fun. Vintage and thrifted decor add an affordable, alternative way to add a bit of whimsy to your home. So, I say sprinkle a little joy into every nook and cranny of your home with vintage.
A Thrifted Table Styling
Not from a recent thrifting adventure, but all of the vintage dishes except for the goblets are thrifted.
Elevate Your Style – Why Choose Thrifted and Vintage?
Candles need not be ordinary! Style them to express your individuality and reflect your vintage home style. Teacups are perfect for holding small bouquets or a single flower. Love vintage teacups? Mix and match teacups and saucers for a bit of whimsy.
- Thrifted home decor items can add a unique and personal touch to any space, as each piece often comes with its own history, story and character.
- Mixing old and new decor can create a sense of depth and texture in a room making it feel more layered and lived-in.
- Thrifted items can often be high-quality, well-made pieces that have stood the test of time, offering durability and longevity that many new items cannot match.
- Using thrifted items in home decor is a sustainable way to promote reusing and recycling, reducing the demand for new products and the environmental impact of over production.
- Most often thrifted items are purchased at a fraction of the price of new items, making them a more budget- friendly solution for home decor.
- In my own home, I love thrifting and collecting vintage home decor. In every room of my house you’ll find a mixture of new and old furniture and home decor.
- Vintage is the best way to curate your home.
Add a charming and unique touch to your home. Whether you’re looking for nostalgic pieces, quirky finds, or timeless accents, thrift stores are treasure troves for vintage decor.
And a Little More – A Book for the Love of Western
I acquired this Western book full of short stories and art for a $1.00. True stories by “Bronc buster Harry Webb.” I’m pretty excited to read since it is written from “language in the day.” Probably not as colorful as one can imagine but written with that great cowboy voice – raw and real.
I hope these ideas inspire you to get creative with thrift store items and look beyond the perfect pieces.
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
