Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year friends! Well, I’m late to the party again! I’m here dropping in to wish you well this new year. Winter has returned to us delivering with fierce winds and snow in drifts. I haven’t ventured outside much this past month but maybe twice. It’s the second week in January and I’m just now feeling like crawling back on here. A December shoulder surgery has kept me house bound. I am recovering, but it is a slow process.
Time to Reset
Did you do the deed? Did you set new year goals and resolutions or are you one of those people who hate the whole ‘cliche’ of making new year resolutions and all that. In the past I’ve chosen a word of the year, set goals and mapped them out for a daily, weekly, and monthly achievement. I know that I will never be that one person who always makes healthy choices (eating & exercising) and is super organized in every area of my life just because it’s a new year. I will never completely change all of sudden to be this perfectly fit person. BUT I know that I can work hard at improving myself and the new year is the perfect fresh start and motivation to do that.
Set small goals & give yourself time to reach them
As I move through the new year and take those first steps, I’m going to take it slow. I’ve given a few thoughts about myself and have decided to stop making excuses for myself. If I feel out of shape, I’m going to focus on exercising and eat better. If I feel a lack of time, I’m going to quit watching tv so much. Don’t have the money? I’m going to stop wasting it. Save a $1.00 or 5.00 every week. If crap seems too complicated, I’ll start small. If I don’t understand something, I will learn and read to educate myself.
Reflections
We all know what to do. We just don’t because we feel that it’s too hard. So now, I’m going to move out of my comfort zone! I’m looking forward to a fresh start, new beginnings and a new year! You can see my steps for 2023 here and more here regarding the use of a planner. Reflect on previous years goals.
Evey time we waste our time; we waste and opportunity and for something or someone to beat you. Sometimes your opponent is yourself.
Word of the Year
I’ve thought about a perfect word for myself in this year… Balance.
bal·ance
NOUN
- an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.
Why this word? It fits all the above recommendations that I have for myself. Many of those recommendations require a balance of a better schedule to exercise, make lists to stay on track, I need to be more intentional about my health, if I eat a cupcake, I need to eat a damn salad, finances, practices of faith, and time to find a greater purpose. It’s all about structure. People are creatures of habit, but really crave structure if we’d put the time in.
I grabbed this quote and thought I would share it. “Be grateful for closed doors, bad vibes, and stuff that falls apart. It’s divine protection from people, places, and things no longer in alignment with your soul.” There’s balance!
Happy New Year!
