I have always enjoyed the spirit of Halloween and not the creepy, scary kind, just the fun kind. I don’t usually decorate for this season, but this year I kind of wanted to get into the spirit of things you might say. I wanted some Halloween fun! Although I didn’t want the spooky – creepy kind of decor, but it has a bit of a spookiness with the skull added.
I didn’t decorate my whole house. I decorated the buffet in my living room. I began with a Halloween message, ‘When Witches go riding and black cats are seen…the Moon laughs and whispers tis near Halloween.’ Painting chalkboard paint on the glass of a dollar store frame and writing my spirited message became the inspiration for the haunting display.
Some spooky artwork of framed silhouette cut-outs, in dollar store frames and the poem “The Raven” borrowed from Edgar Allen Poe to accompany my cut-out raven adds a bit of a haunting effect with a slightly dark and stormy look.
A fake skull from my old science class, some DIY cardboard tombstones (painted with chalk paint and customized with favorite puns), and some found faded white elk antlers along with cobwebs and plastic spiders add to the ‘spook-tackular’ look. Nothing says Halloween like fake cobwebs and spiders.
Customized chalkboard tombstones.

Maybe just starting a new tradition of creepy decor – but not too creepy. Combining classic fall/Halloween decor, orange pumpkins, with slightly spooky things. Lanterns and flickering flameless candles finish the look. All on a ‘dime store’ budget.
Happy Haunting from R & R~
